WOT Express: Flamethrowers Will NOT Appear in World of Tanks!

During a closed meeting this year, developers were asked about flamethrowers and comparisons were made to “another game.” This sparked a heated discussion, which led to the following response:

(The discussion was held in English; this is a loose translation!)

Flamethrowers will not appear in WoT in any form! Not even in special event modes. Nothing of the sort is in development.

[At this point, the discussion continues with arguments, mentions of specific vehicles, game design considerations, etc.]

Flamethrowers are garbage (shit), and I’ll say it again—there are no plans for them in WoT.

  1. Hmm, den Waffenträger auf E100 soll es auch nicht mehr geben. Und was ist? Es gibt ihn auch nicht mehr! Und bevor hier jemand heult, ein Phönix ist ein Phönix und kein Waffenträger! (KAPPA?)

  2. how many times have we heard such bullshit? tier 8 m6, e25, wt e100, type 59, these were all “not coming back”.
give them a few years, when reskins wont be enough to make a profit, we will have flamethrowers and even dumber shits

    1. They never said the E25 would never return. The article that is still up simply said “we can’t guarantee it won’t return” as back then it was not up to the NA or EU what would be sold. RU HQ ran all the stores on all the server and had the final say. It’s why the SU-76i was pulled in less than hour on all servers at the same time.

Type 59 was simply put “it own’t be sold as long as I’m in charge” as a former balance lead said. Once he left, the Type 59 was sold less than 3 months later.

Nor did they say the WT would never return. The article about his removal simply said “you never know”.

M6 Mutant on the other hand is a different argument. That time they did say it won’t be available again. and he was still in charge when it was sold. But as with point 1, at that point it was up to each server what they would sell. And EU jumped on the mutant instantly.

So the point is. They say different things. But as soon as someone new is in charge, all bets are off again

  3. Flamethrowers are garbage. They’re awaiting a nerf, yet they’ve completely gutted every game mechanic focused on shooting better, more accurately, with more penetration, deeper, faster, and more times at the enemy tank. The best thing about playing in EU right now is that there are no flamethrowers. Aside from the nerf, their matchmaking should be regulated, just as it is with the Tier VIII 156 OBJ O premium flamethrower artillery. Only one can be deployed per team, and it’s nowhere near as strong as the North American flamethrowers.

Perhaps the flamethrower mechanic could be included in the game as a base defense or as a temporary activation obstacle (a vehicle turret used in a bunker) in some phase of the map or in skirmishes where the team has limited activations.

  4. WG made such a big deal of nerfing HE when it happened, there is no way they’d implement a mechanic that is even more toxic than old HE. The hulldown slaves would freak out so hard if it happened.

  5. WG says that about flamethrowers, but what about GPTs? And what about “assault artillery”? With that mechanic, they could implement the Sturntiger line from WoT Console.

    1. The same applies to tier 11, the third campaign, among other things, didn’t they say otherwise?
