New Year = New Premium Vehicles! The popular Trade-In Event is back to kick off 2021! Playstyles changed, new nations become more popular, or you just outgrew your old favorite—there are plenty of reasons why a tank might be collecting dust in your Garage. This is your chance to exchange old and long-forgotten Premium vehicles for fresh new toys to conquer the battlefields.

From January 18 at 06:00 CET through February 1 at 06:00 CET (UTC+1), you can trade in Premium vehicles in your collection for great discounts on brand new ones.

Trade-In: Eligibility

The general rule is as follows: You can trade in any Premium vehicle of Tier VI–VIII when buying a new Premium vehicle of the same tier or higher that is available in the Tech Tree. It is only possible to trade in one vehicle at a time. When trading in, half of your old tank’s value in gold will be subtracted from the price of the vehicle you’re buying.

Vehicles available for purchase:

Vehicles that can be traded in:

Tier VI

Tier VII

Tier VIII

Example: You want to buy the Löwe, which costs 11,200 in-game. In exchange, you want to trade in your old Dicker Max, which usually costs 2,800.

Trading in your old Premium tank gives you half of its value in gold, just like selling standard vehicles gives you half of their value in credits. This amount will be directly deducted from the price of the tank that you are about to buy.

Therefore, trading in your Dicker Max will yield you half of its price (1,400) and you now only need 9,800 for the Löwe.

Important: Active Premium tank discounts may affect the value of the vehicle you are attempting to trade in if that vehicle is eligible for the discount. Discounted vehicles will be marked accordingly in the trade-in window.

How to Trade In Tanks

Availability

Vehicles eligible for purchase with a trade in option will be displayed as follows:

In the Tech Tree

In the tank purchase menu

Transaction options:

Once you have decided which vehicle to add to your collection, simply right click on the vehicle and choose Purchase or Trade In.

  • By default, the list of tanks eligible for trade-in is arranged by the amount of gold they would deduct from the price.
  • The list also features eligible vehicles that are currently unavailable for the exchange (in battle, not repaired, in a Platoon). Clicking on them will reveal more info about their status.

The trade-in menu also offers the usual actions, such as adding basic ammunition, crew training, etc.

Trade-In Options:

Depending on how much gold is available on your account, tanks available for the exchange may be displayed in two different ways:

The tank can be exchanged and there is enough additional gold on the account.

The tank can be exchanged, but there is not enough additional gold for the purchase on the account.

A purchase can only be completed if enough gold in addition to the trade-in value is available on the account to cover the full price of the new vehicle.

Important to Remember

  • The trade-in feature will be available until February 1 at 06:00 CET (UTC+1).
  • You can only trade in vehicles that are of lower or equal tier to the vehicle you want to purchase, but not lower than Tier VI.
  • You can trade in only one vehicle per transaction.
  • The gold value of vehicles may be affected by active discounts on Premium tanks.
  • Ammunition, equipment, consumables, and customizations applied to the vehicle that is being traded in will be automatically dismounted and placed in the Depot for free.
  • Vehicle-bound customizations can only be used if you get the tank again in the future.
  • The crew present in the vehicle that is being traded in will be placed in the Barracks automatically. The trade-in will not be possible if there are not enough free bunks in the Barracks to accommodate them.
  • Tanks used for trade-ins cannot be restored with the Restore functionality.
  • You don’t have to buy an extra Garage slot when trading in. The new tank will be placed in the slot previously occupied by the vehicle that was traded in.

  1. Trade-in has pretty questionable value now that all the better premiums are temporary offers only.

  2. What an amazing offer for I don’t know, 5th year in a row? We should be so grateful that we have the same opportunity as before, to trade in tanks that are out of meta for years and get HALF of what people have paid previously. What an amazing idea! Owners of such out of meta tanks would definitely prefer getting half of what they’ve paid before, rather than WG wasting their precious time to balance tanks, that have been left covered in dust for half a decade. Don’t you know WG is busy fixing the game? Don’t you know how much effort they put in, to develop models for the new premium tanks available only for real cash? Do you know how hard it is to organize a gambling addiction loot boxes event every Christmas?

This amazing event lets you exchange “old and long-forgotten Premium vehicles” for the same “old and long-forgotten Premium vehicles”. What a great deal! But for the “fresh new toys to conquer the battlefields” you actually have to pay real money because there isn’t any of them in the trade in event.

So WG essentially tells you that if you want to be able to play the game, you will have to regularly participate in gambling addiction loot boxes events every Christmas and spend hundreds of euros so you can get a CHANCE (it’s a gamble), to get a box with a “fresh new toy to conquer the battlefields”.

No one wants MM fixed, or 3 artilleries per team removed, or EBRs removed, or -10 depression, 250mm+ front turret armor, 440 alpha gun, driving with 50km/h+ heavy tank balanced. Or another great russian tank that cannot be penetrated with normal ammo from the front removed.

Every year players beg for trade in events such as these and WG as always listens to their playerbase’s feedback. Keep it up WG, keep coming up with such great ideas, and continue improving the decrease of battle duration by introducing flying tanks and autoloaders.

    1. Indded my friend…. Indeed! I don’t even bother about this “event” aka robbery!

    2. What robbery are you talking abut? People are trading in free premiums from referral program, so you just get 50% discount, lmao. There are still some really good tanks in the in-game shop.

  3. I want trade my shity ISU-152K fron christmass boxes at any cost. But its missing in the list.

  4. i bought t34b from black market, and i’v trade it for stg, last time and i’m happy that i did it 🙂 . now there is no other tank in that list that i want

    1. Same, but I chose the ELC EVEN 90. The T34 B was just collecting dust in my garage, haven’t even touched it once, bought it solely for its gold value for these trade-ins. On the other hand, I regret not getting the Caernarvon AX when it was also available for credits on the BM. Anyway, I can’t complain now. 400 gold for an EVEN 90 is fair enough. No clue about the STG, but I’m guessing other tier 8 options worth considering are the Supershing (its mobility and gun handling will get buffed Soon™) and the Ravioli, getting an IS-6 B for bonds might be worth it for its trade-in value (highest gold/bonds ratio iirc). Löwe would also be a decent choice, but ain’t gonna pay up that much gold for it.

      1. i didn’t think about lowe.. it would be a good choice for a heavy tank player… well , i have caernarvon , but i don’t like it, i can’t stand low alpha damage guns on heavys and super pershing is like a heavy , from what i heard. i don’t have ravioli, but i think stg is better, it has better camo and speed and pen ( and it will get a buff too, Soon™)

  5. Remember when they would add more premiums as available temporarily for gold for purpose of trade-in? I am still sad about missing out on 50TP prot. in one of those “not so lazy trade-ins”

  6. Bought a tier 8 HT in the bond shop… traded it for a tier 8 prem I wanted and did pay 1000 gold for it. Not complaining either way regardless of the fair argument above.
