WG’s Map Plans for 2018

Note: this information is preliminary so take it with a grain of salt. It’s from a recent CC meeting.

Here are Wargaming’s plans for some of the maps this year:

Klondike – in development for HD.
Widepark – in development for HD.
Kharkov – is at the stage of redesign and prototyping.
Highway – there is a plan to make it into HD.
Swamp – will be put out of rotation will not get the change to HD.
Windstorm – will be removed from rotation and will not receive the remake in HD.
Mittengard – will be removed from rotation and will not receive the change in HD.
Stalingrad – will be withdrawn (removed from rotation) and will not receive the transfer to HD.
Sacred Valley – will be removed from rotation and will not receive the change to HD. Despite recent attempts at redesign.

Nothing known about the exclusive Chinese server map.

  1. I like most maps , just need some rework, just the amount people see them and fix the tiers that can be on them. This game needs more maps not removal of any.

  2. Sacred Corridor, finally! The piece of shit map that went from bad to stupid and finally shit. The other maps could have stayed in with a tier cap but they won’t be missed either.

  3. Klondike –which one is this?
Widepark – just remove it…. no1 likes this
Kharkov – do not waste time, remove it
Highway – there is a plan to make it into HD. – good

Swamp – will be put out of rotation will not get the change to HD. – good, every time they changed this map it has been for the worse. if they bring back the original swamp and just modify it A BIT, it would be a great map

Windstorm – will be removed from rotation and will not receive the remake in HD. – good, it is one of the worst maps ever

Mittengard – will be removed from rotation and will not receive the change in HD.
Stalingrad – will be withdrawn (removed from rotation) and will not receive the transfer to HD. – good, they should do the same to kharkov

Sacred Valley – will be removed from rotation and will not receive the change to HD. Despite recent attempts at redesign.- not one of the worst maps. it is bad, but it’s not that terrible, i dont know why do they abandon this map and lose time trying to fix anothers.

  4. I actually like Sacred Valley but that might have more to do with the fact that my uncle was a tanker in the Korean War. I really don’t have issues with most of the rest of the maps but I’ll not miss Swamp; the play on that map just keeps getting worse and worse in terms of just being a campfest around said swamp.

    1. Making HD maps takes 90 days on each map. So it’s not a fast job. So they might return later. Tho tbh, I won’t miss Stalingrad or swamp to name a few. Highway is my most hated map, and I won’t be sad if that won’t return either.

  5. Sacred valley and sswamp and stalingrad didn’t need a removal imo. Sacred valley is balanced swamp needs a little tweaks on the southern side. About stalingrad… I don’t think it is as bad as others say. Same goes for windstorm – I quite enjoyed these maps. Only mittengarf was bad because it was broken if you had binoculars and camonet. About highway… it is a very nice map that should’ve been among the first 28 maps

  6. Under “Strengths”… you’ve just put “blogging”?!!

How did it feel having to type this out manually? I mean every ounce of you must have felt dirty… dirtier then a nun squatting in a cucumber field.

so that’s it then is it? not even going to pretend anymore.
