The new “Battle for Moscow” map takes us to the Peremilovskie Heights—one of the key defensive lines of the city in November–December 1941. Here, on the approaches to Yakhroma and Dmitrov, Soviet troops held back the advance of the German invaders, preventing them from securing a foothold near the crossing over the Moscow Canal.
The map conveys the harsh atmosphere of those days: terrain scarred by battle, destroyed and burning buildings, trampled snow, and tracks left by tank treads… The cold blue-white palette contrasts with the red flashes of fires and reflections of flames, emphasizing the drama of the moment—there is no retreat.
