The image is a statistical chart that starkly illustrates the correlation between a player’s win rate and their frequency of using special ammunition. The data is broken down into three tiers of player performance:
- Win Rate <50%: Players with a sub-average win rate (often referred to as “red” or “yellow” players by community metrics) use special ammunition in approximately 30% of their shots.
- Win Rate 50-60%: Players with an above-average to good win rate (typically “green” or “blue” players) use special ammunition more frequently, at a rate of over 40%.
- Win Rate >60%: Highly skilled and top-tier players (often called “purple” or “super-unicum” players) have an exceptionally high usage rate, firing special shells in over 60% of their shots.
What These Statistics Reflect
This direct relationship between ammunition choice and player success is a central point of debate and discussion within the World of Tanks community.
The data reflects a fundamental truth about high-level gameplay: consistent damage output is the key to winning. Special ammunition, with its significantly higher penetration value, allows players to reliably damage heavily armored enemy tanks. Unlike standard rounds which might bounce or fail to penetrate strong enemy armor, special rounds drastically reduce the chance of a non-penetrating hit. This allows a player to deal more damage over the course of a battle, which in turn increases their chances of winning.
For many players, the decision to fire special ammunition is a calculated one. While it is more expensive in terms of in-game credits, it is a tool used to ensure a positive impact on the battle. For the top players, the cost is often irrelevant, as their high performance and use of premium tanks/accounts generate enough credits to sustain a high special-shell usage.
In essence, the statistics presented in this chart show that special ammunition is not just an optional tool, but a critical factor in achieving and sustaining a high win rate. The data highlights the “pay-for-advantage” aspect of the game, where the ability to afford and use expensive shells is a clear contributor to in-game success.

Pay to win, we all know this. This is the reason why all fixes to matchmaker dont work.
That is a delusional take
I would bet a lot that the red rats won’t suddenly become blue by using more gold ammo.
Never thought I would see WoT RU to be the ones to recognize this 🤯
No.
Shitty players use less gold ammo because they don’t have the resources to afford it …. Because they are shitty players.
Good to great players win more battles and can buy more gold ammo.
If gold ammo has more pen then who wouldn’t use??
bullshit!
All the great players that made FTP accounts couldn’t fire as much Premium ammo and got less winrate and damage.
Same players, different economic advantage.
Lol so great players who win have no resources 😂😂😂😂
True it is just a skill issue
who wouldnt use it? poor players or whatever you call them
Everytime you see someone not shooting gold, its because it is too expensive for them . not because they are shitty. shitty usually dont know how and where to shoot..
You can ask them in the game when they will be in your team, is he shitty or p2w shell is too expensive 🙂
That’s what it says above. Sorry you can’t read English too well 😬
Wow that is the biggest misinformation article in a while. 60% win ratio players care about winning so they want to maximase it thus shooting more gold. Not the other way around. Crazy how bad players can gaslight themselfs into beliving that it is cuz “they dont spam gold”.
ye, and gold spammers really affraid of gold shell reword or removal. Then their skill go away …
As other game modes showed us …
I really hope that happens on the live server and permanently to really see what happens, I bet a lot of whiny veterans are going to quit the game and cry even louder.
