WoT RU: Comment by Sergey Burkatovskiy aka SerB on Update 1.36.1

The “Lesta” state company has done what every first candidate interviewed for World of Tanks game design in 2010-2014 suggested in response to the very first question: nerf artillery (removed stun), globally increase accuracy, and reduce RNG. I believe this is the result of Mr. Dobrodeev’s directive in a recent letter to take players’ opinions into account.
And players constantly complain specifically about artillery, inaccurate guns, and RNG.

However, it’s worth noting that the second question was always: “Now describe what this will lead to.”

And, in fact, this program wasn’t implemented during my time because, in my opinion, it would lead to bush camping on one hand (first it’s safer to hide behind cover without powerful shelling artillery, and second deep pushes to take out disruptive artillery lose their purpose without such artillery), and on the other hand to reflex dominance over tactics, which would mean driving away the paying older audience in favor of quick-handed students.

Incidentally, overly accurate guns make it possible to effectively block breakthroughs from longer distances, which again favors static gameplay.

In short, we cared about the game, and we didn’t go for such a global experiment (local ones were conducted several times). And “Project Armata,” which flew low-low, had roughly the same (and very instructive for us) ideology.

But now there are other people (focused not on the game, but on KPIs), a different tune, so we’ll see whether we were right or just overly cautious.

    Now aimbotters can charge at full speed and expect to hit more shots?… subject to the dodgy RNG system of course lol

  2. FYI, SerB is Theoretical Nuclear Physics PhD.
    If someone can interpret a shit load of data and stats, I would trust him, not some kid who graduated God knows where and when…
    Unfortunately, he is right..
    If I can pixel sniper you, why would I bother to get closer ?

  3. If you look at the distribution in their new circle, its not actually super centre, but the annoying peripheral shots are way less possible…
