WoT Supertest: Pearl River Changes

The southwest and central zones of the Pearl River map have received a major redesign. The goal is to refresh gameplay in these areas and better accommodate maneuverable vehicles, snipers, and scouts, who previously had limited options here.

New positions have been added for light tanks, medium tanks, and TDs, with an emphasis on interconnectivity between roles. The redesign also introduces a clearer front line, promoting more structured and engaging battles.

Here’s a breakdown of the key changes:

1
Added a new close-combat position for medium-armored vehicles.

2
Introduced easily accessible balconies for both teams.

3
Added new positions for medium-armored vehicles with strong tactical connections to the southwestern area.

4
Added new sniper-friendly spots to help lightly armored vehicles control the southwest and central zones.

5
Light tank positions now allow control over a wide area of the map, including balconies (2) in squares H2–J3.

6
A narrow path has been replaced with an open, elevated hill that now serves as the front line.

7
A shorter approach route has been added for the eastern team’s heavy tanks.

8
The northeastern flank path is now safer for the eastern team to access.

  1. Honestly, this is even worse than the previous iteration. Now, there are less LT positions, even more sniper nests and the middle town is completely demolished and turned into a dead space. And adding 4 houses in the southwest for “MT gameplay” doesn’t help at all – it will be for MT, that can play hull down. What is a bat chat, a TVP, etc supposed to do there? Either snipe or scout, none of which is the intended role of a MT

  2. I don’t want to paint a bleak picture, but I simply can’t see what advantages this overhaul is supposed to offer. Again, a game on the map will quickly show whether the map designer has truly thought through the map and all its possibilities. At first glance, I’m not convinced.

  3. I really miss the old or first Pearl River map it was a lot of fun for every tank class, this new version isn’t even similar in any areas to it, except it has a river, that’s it
old Pearl river map you could easily see 15min battles often, which is why WG removed it, gameplay not fast the slaughter quick enough, bunch of dumb ass devs.
