FV245 Celtic [ United Kingdom, HT-9, dual-barrel gun mechanic]
Historical Reference:
The British FV245 tank project was developed, among other things, to protect the island from the transfer of war in Europe onto its territory, in case the military-political confrontation there escalated into a hot phase. Intended to serve tactically as a mobile protected firepoint, it was supposed to have quite impressive firepower, comparable to naval or coastal artillery, strong armor with rationally angled armor plates, wide tracks, and a powerful engine to provide at least acceptable mobility. However, already at the start of work on the FV245, the main battle tank concept was becoming increasingly dominant in global tank design, and the introduction of ATGMs and autoloaders made equipping tanks with dual-barrel artillery systems pointless. As a result, the tank design was discontinued.
