Historical Reference:
In the second half of the 1950s, the priority was mastering Soviet medium tanks. At the same time, there were attempts to develop domestic designs, one of which was the TBT project (Těžký bojový tank – Heavy Combat Tank).
It was developed with inspiration from the Soviet T-10. One of its distinctive features was the use of stamped and bent armor plates, as cast parts were considered less durable.
The concept behind the vehicle was that of a mobile heavy tank capable of operating alongside medium tanks. However, Czechoslovak industry was never able to build a single prototype. The TBT remained nothing more than a conceptual design.
