On September 7, 1945, a Victory Parade of the Allies of the Anti-Hitler Coalition in World War II took place in Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate. The parade concluded with a column of Soviet heavy IS-3 tanks. A total of 60 IS-3s participated in the parade — 52 tanks drove through the square, while the remaining 8 were held in reserve.

To organize the parade, a combined tank regiment was formed, consisting of vehicles from the following units: the 67th, 71st, and 72nd Guards Heavy Tank Regiments. The lead IS-3 tank in the column carried the banner of the 67th Independent Guards Heavy Tank Red Banner Brigade.

At this parade in Berlin, the new Soviet IS-3 tanks were shown publicly for the first time, making a strong impression on the Allied command.
