WoT 1.28.1 Common Test: Gryphon In-Game Screenshots & Historical Reference

With the release of Update 1.28.1, the Gryphon (🇬🇧 UK, Tier X Heavy Tank, Promotional, Mechanic: 2-shell autoreloader) will be available for testing by developers and supertesters in random battles.

Historical Reference:

As development on the Chieftain progressed, the question arose of producing a similar-class vehicle outside the UK. Based on the chassis of the first prototype, a new project was designed using the American turret from the Concept 1B. This vehicle was given the working name “Gryphon.”

In addition to the turret, the project planned to incorporate various American components while retaining British internal equipment. The design initially allowed for either a British or American gun, depending on the country where production would take place. Ultimately, the project was canceled in favor of more promising vehicle designs.

  1. “After the nerf of T95/FV4201 Chieftain, Wargaming needed another bait prize tank to get the attention of tryhards. Since they didn’t want to create another tank they’d have to nerf at some point, they settled for an option that wasn’t as OP as T95/FV4201 Chieftain, that option being Gryphon.”

    This tank’s historical fluff.

  2. Higher, faster, further
a concept 1B, instead of single shot now as autoloader, instead of tier 9 now tier 10
WG will then realize again that they have made the thing too strong and will nerf it to death. I suspect that this thing will have to serve as a “reward tank” for the new missions. Basically, I like the design and if it at least performs like the Concept 1B, I’d want it.

    1. WG won’t make more maps, those don’t generate profits. And even if they did make new maps those would be more corridors and hulldown spots.
