T-54A (United Nations, Tier-9, MT, techtree)
The Soviet Union’s foreign policy interests in the Middle East were significant as early as the 1950s. The USSR provided Arab nations, primarily Egypt and Syria, with weapons and military equipment, and Soviet specialists were actively working in these countries.
Starting in 1957, several hundred T-54 tanks of various modifications were supplied to these nations. At the time of delivery, these tanks were nearly identical to those used by the Soviet Army. Among them were T-54 tanks from the 1949 model, developed in accordance with the Soviet Council of Ministers’ decree No. 2620-1039 from June 18, 1949. These tanks featured several improvements over previous versions. The most notable external change was the newly designed turret, which prevented shells from ricocheting into the upper hull roof, although it still retained a weak spot in the rear section.
