Tech Tree Trade-In: The Basics

You de-research Tiers VI–X of any single completely researched vehicle branch of your choice—to instantly research Tiers VI–X of a single unresearched vehicle branch from those available for the trade-in. Every owned vehicle of Tiers VI to X from the branch you give away will be replaced by its counterpart from the target branch.

A Tech Tree Trade-In fee applies. The base price is in gold, but you can add bonds, blueprints, and Free XP to bring the gold expenses down to zero. All the calculations will be shown in the Tech Tree Trade-In interface in the game client before you confirm the trade-in.

Tech Tree Trade-In: The Interface

Access the main Tech Tree Trade-In screen via the entry window to the right of the vehicle carousel. There you will be presented with a selection of branches you can trade in and receive in exchange.

Once you select the branch you want to receive and the branch you want to give away, the trade-in fee in gold will appear at the bottom of the screen (to the left). The tiers participating in the trade-in will be highlighted. The vehicles you are giving away will be crossed out, and the vehicles you are to receive will be check-marked.

When you click on the Next Step button, you will be taken to the next screen, where you can add bonds, national and universal blueprint fragments, and Free XP instead of gold, possibly bringing the gold cost to zero. Note that limits apply to the number of national and universal fragments and the amount of Free XP you can invest (10% of the gold cost per type), but no limit applies to the number of bonds.

Another click on the Next Step button takes you to a screen where you can get detailed information on the trade-in (what happens to the affected vehicles, crews, equipment, field modifications, accumulated XP, etc.).

Clicking on the Confirm button (and then verifying your decision once again in the pop-up window) completes the trade-in operation.

The Tech Tree Trade-In operation is irreversible and can only be made once. Before making your decision, make sure to explore in detail the target branch, the final resource cost of the operation, and the effect it will have on your vehicles, crews, equipment, etc.

Tech Tree Trade-In: General Rules

  • You can trade in only Tiers VI through X of fully researched branches. Not all branches are available as target ones (recently introduced ones are not among the possible options).
  • You may trade less than five vehicle tiers if you have already researched vehicles in the target branch at Tier Vl or above. Even a single (Tier X) vehicle can be traded, if Tier X is the only tier not yet researched in the target branch.
  • The initial trade-in fee varies depending on the number of tiers traded and the difference in the amount of XP needed to research each of them in the respective branches.
  • You may have unresearched modules in the branch you are giving away. This does not increase the trade-in fee.
  • The modules of all vehicles you give away are removed and de-researched, including those in the Depot. The vehicles you receive will have every module researched and purchased.
  • Equipment (including improved and Experimental Equipment), directives, consumables, customization elements, and ammo from the vehicles traded in are moved to the Depot for free.
  • Field Modification levels are transferred to the new vehicles. No specific modifications will be selected for them; instead, you will receive compensation in credits that will allow you to select the modifications of your choice.
  • Crew members in the vehicles given away are converted into nation-bound recruits, meaning they can be moved to other vehicles of the same nation without penalty. However, if a crew member has a perk efficiency penalty, they will be sent to the Barracks instead. The vehicles you receive will come with 100% crews.
  • All Combat XP from vehicles you are giving away will be transferred to that nation’s Tier I vehicle. Consider unlocking field modifications before the trade-in.
  • All Service Record stats, Achievements, and Battle Pass Point and bond limits of vehicles you give away will be retained.
  • If the branch you are giving away includes a rental Tech Tree vehicle, it will be removed without compensation during the trade-in. All assets related to that vehicle will be handled as per the above conditions.
  • The vehicles from the target branch are added without equipment, consumables, or ammunition.
  • After the trade-in, you keep your Collector’s vehicles of the old branch’s nation even if that branch was the only one researched for that nation.
