No, you do not need to do that. Researched vehicles in the target branch will begin at Tier VI after you complete the trade-in operation.
At Tech Tree Trade-In launch, I do not have a single branch with every Tier VI–X vehicle researched. If I finish researching a branch while the Tech Tree Trade-In option is available, will this branch be eligible for trade-in?
Yes, if you manage to research Tiers VI–X of a branch before the Tech Tree Trade-In event ends, this branch will be eligible for trade-in.
I have Tiers VI, VII, and VIII researched in the target vehicle branch. How will this affect the Tech Tree Trade-In?
In this case, Tiers VI, VII, and VIII in the branch you are giving away will stay researched and you will keep any vehicles you own. Only Tiers IX and X will be de-researched, and vehicles of these two tiers will be exchanged for their counterparts from the target branch.
Can I choose to exchange only some Tiers and the respective vehicles in the branch I am giving away (e.g., trade in Tiers VI to IX but keep Tier X)?
No, you cannot manually choose which vehicles in a Tier VI–X branch to trade in. The only possible exception is having some tiers researched in the target branch (see above).
Due to special circumstances, I only have Tiers VIII, IX, and X researched in the branch I want to give away. Can I use it in the Tech Tree Trade-In?
No, only branches with all vehicles from Tier VI to X researched qualify for the Tech Tree Trade-In.
I want to give away a branch with several unresearched modules on Tier VI–X vehicles. Can I use this branch in the Tech Tree Trade-In?
Yes, you can. Unresearched modules in the branch you are giving away will not increase the fee. Plus, you will receive the new branch fully researched (including every module).
I have a crew with all perks trained on a vehicle I am giving away, will I get an equivalent crew on the vehicle I am receiving?
No, but the new vehicle will come with a 100% crew. The old crew will become National Recruits. They will keep their nation and all their experience, and you will be able to choose the vehicle type, specialization, and perks for each of them anew when you wish.
I have Experimental and/or improved equipment on a vehicle I am giving away. What will happen to it?
All equipment from the vehicles you are giving away will be demounted for free (irrespective of its type) and sent to the Depot.
I have lots of XP accumulated on the vehicles from the branch I want to give away. What will happen to it and what is the best possible use for it before I confirm the Tech Tree Trade-In operation?
All the XP accumulated on the vehicles from the branch you give away will be moved to the Tier I vehicle of its nation. Before you confirm the trade-in operation, please consider investing this XP into unlocking Field Modifications on the vehicles you own from that branch.
The vehicle branch I am giving away/the target branch is currently discounted (is part of a Top of the Tree special). How will this affect the Tech Tree Trade-In fee?
Top of the Tree discounts do not affect the Tech Tree Trade-In operation. However, if you sell a discounted vehicle, you will be able to re-purchase it later at a lower price if you choose to do so at any time in the future.
I have earned many achievements and have good statistics on the vehicles from the branch I am giving away. What will happen to them after I confirm the Tech Tree Trade-In operation?
You will keep your stats and your achievements, and gain the achievements associated with owning vehicles from the new branch.
