Clone Wars of Premium Tanks in WOT
You’ve probably noticed that more and more clones are appearing in the game. At least with each new loot box, a premium tank with a unique 3D style is introduced, but it’s already present in the game. And they specifically choose rather good premiums. And we’re not even talking about the history with the Tier 10.
Some recent examples include:
- Mars (Progetto M35 mod. 46)
- Forest Spirit (SU-130PM)
- Alembic (ASTRON Rex 105 mm)
- Miel (Bat.-Châtillon Bourrasque)
And now, at least, the following clones are in development:
- Škoda T 56
- ShPTK-TVP 100
- Bisonte C45
- …
All upcoming clones are good premium tanks for random battles. They will be released later this year or early 2025. One of them will appear in the very next loot boxes! However, not all of these tanks will be released in the EU/NA region, but that could change.
We can expect this trend to continue at least until the end of 2025.
We already have a damn skin mechanic in the game, why do they separate the tanks? So we dont get 10k gold when we get a duplicate? Makes zero sense. Just change the name of the tank when a certain skin is worn if they care so much about something to meaningless.
So that u buy more lootboxes to get the new tank because drop rate goes down with these clones
Reskin clones exist to worsen lootbox drop rates. Suppose you have Borat but the lootbox has Miel (exact same tank with a different name and skin), that means you can roll Miel.
It’s a way to increase lootbox monetization, to force people to buy more boxes.
Answer is very simple – this is by far the easiest and quickest way for WG to print money. Development cost is only for creating a 3D skin, and as they are rebadging good premuim tanks, then they always know in advance, that these clones will sell.
From player perspective it looks very stupid, but if you would be in WG shoes, most probably you would do the same.
The biggest issue I have with this, is that even if I want the duplicate tank, I am forced to use those 3D skins, which in most cases look simply retarded.
The ultimate fix for this, which would cost nothing to WG, and could improve the sell figure even more, is to allow to remove those pokemon skins and use the usual ones instead.
Clones are used in frontlines, etc… Once you get destroyed in Bourasque, you take Miel… Its simple…
Yikkes. Playing the same tank with that much importance? Bland as hell but I see why that niche community would want it.
Could be… It seems that people forgot that they can get something else, now they must have a duplicate of the same tank , but with a clown camo.
Never buying a loot box again (because of this)
Last loot box one of tank was M 41 90 GF and I got it because I only had M41 90.
Now I have two tanks that is out dated and that I will never play.
