A variant of the development of light tank projects with universal armament, including a twin installation of automatic cannons. The vehicle was intended for the widest possible range of tasks:
It is both a fast, maneuverable reconnaissance vehicle and a support tank, capable of coming from the flank and firing rapid-fire guns. The remote weapons unit with convenient access for maintenance and replaceable cradles for mounting guns of different calibers allowed to keep the vehicle’s small weight, while providing the required protection indicators and high vertical guidance angles. By the time the preliminary design was completed, the Vz.71 was not in demand by the military: the BRM niche had already been occupied by other vehicles, and the armor of the equipment had noticeably increased by that time, and a light tank without missile weapons became irrelevant.
