WoT: Onslaught 2022 Gameplay Mechanics

Get ready for Onslaught, which offers thrilling 7v7 matches in Tier X vehicles against opponents of similar ranks. The first season, “Season of the Griffin,” will take place from October 12 at 10:00 CEST (UTC+2) through November 20 at 23:00 CET (UTC+1).

Please Note: Onslaught is currently part of the Common Test for Update 1.18.1. Certain game mode values may be subject to change before the official release.

Pre-Battle Preparation

Vehicle Role Skills

Each of the 15 combat roles features a unique Role Skill that can influence the battle to your advantage. For example, in an assault heavy tank, you can use Field Repairs to create a zone that gradually restores the HP of your vehicle and surrounding teammates. Assault medium tanks can use the Fury skill to reduce reload time by a few seconds. Press the 7 key (by default) to activate your skill.

Role Skills can hold three levels of charge. The higher the charge level when the skill is activated, the stronger the effect will be.

  • You can increase your charge level by performing positive combat actions to collect Prestige Points.
  • Once level one is filled, the Role Skill can be activated.
  • Activating the skill will use up all of your accumulated charge.
  • The Prestige Point counter will not be reset after activating, but the charge accumulation will start over.
  • After the cooldown period, the skill can be reused when it reaches charge level one.
  • Vehicles with the same combat role all have the same skill.

Points of Interest

Although matches in Onslaught will unfold on familiar battlegrounds, such as Himmelsdorf and Ensk, changes have been made specifically for the new mode. Features such as covers, passageways, buildings, and objects were added or removed to add a bit more competition to these Random Battle maps.

Additionally, special Points of Interest have been introduced to the battlefields. These new points can be captured to unlock Tactical Skills. Unlike the vehicle-specific Role Skills, this new feature is the same for every match and is available to everyone.

Every Onslaught map has two to four Points of Interest and two corresponding Tactical Skills. Capturing a Point of Interest is similar to capturing a base, but there are different capture times and additional restrictions.

Tactical Skills

Artillery Headquarters Skill

Capturing the Artillery Headquarters unlocks an Artillery Strike. This Tactical Skill allows the player to command an attack that will stun enemies and allies for 20 seconds, causing 400 HP of damage per hit to enemy vehicles. Within 2 seconds of being called, the artillery will fire in a circle area of 30 meters. Press the 8 key (by default) to activate this skill and select the area of attack.

  • The Artillery Headquarters takes 15 seconds to capture.
  • Only one vehicle can capture a Point of Interest at a time.
  • Causing HP damage or critical damage to the capturing vehicle will reset the capture progress.
  • Taking damage while capturing will restrict you from recapturing the point for 5 seconds.
  • Allies and opponents can immediately start the capture without restrictions.
  • A player can only pick up one Artillery Strike at a time.
  • It is still possible to capture a Comms Center regardless of the Artillery Strike status.
  • Once an Artillery Headquarters has been captured, it will take 120 seconds to reset.

Comms Center Skill

Capturing a Comms Center unlocks the Divisional Radar skill. Activating this skill will lift the Fog of War and reveal the composition of the enemy team. All members of the enemy team will remain spotted for 3 seconds. Press the 9 key (by default) to activate this skill.

  • The Comms Center takes 7 seconds to capture.
  • A player can only pick up one Divisional Radar at a time.
  • It is still possible to capture an Artillery Headquarters regardless of the Divisional Radar status.
  • Once a Comms Center has been captured, it will take 120 seconds to reset.

Maps and Points of Interest

Map Changes

Unlike Random Battles, Onslaught mode is only for Tier X matches of 7 commanders per team. To account for this significant difference and increase the competitiveness of the mode, five of the nine maps have been updated.

Himmelsdorf

The train track area in the western part of the map received additional freight cars and buildings to provide cover. Structures and buildings were removed to open pathways. The fountain in the center of the map (F5) was reworked.

Ensk

The train track area in the eastern part of the map was reworked. Certain buildings and freight cars were removed to open additional pathways. Objects were added for additional cover.

Sand River

Destructible buildings and vegetation were added to the center of the map to provide more cover for the Artillery Headquarters in this position.

El Halluf

The rocky downhill slope in C3 was reworked to open an additional pathway toward the base capture zone.

Pilsen

The center area around E4/ F4 has received an additional object to provide cover and create an exciting point of conflict around the Artillery Headquarters.

  1. This looks like you have to play with a VERY good PC because loading constantly 7 diferent tanks in the pre-battle screen can make slower PC’s to freeze some seconds and even lowering fps.

This game mode changes the minimum system requirements for playng WOT.
