Update 1.14.1: Common Test 1 Has Launched! (+ Full Patchnotes)

Life goes on as usual: time passes, seasons change, and we keep working on a new update to make World of Tanks even better.

The first Common Test of Update 1.14.1 is here, bringing a boost to the stats of many Chinese vehicles, plus improvements to Field Modification.

During this common test, all of the clan functions in the client will be disabled.

Chinese Vehicles Rebalancing

Vehicle balance in World of Tanks is in a perpetual and natural state of flux, with the stats for individual tanks as well as whole branches getting adjusted based on their battle performance. Judging by the recent data, the time has come for a complete rebalance of Chinese heavy and medium tanks, including seven researchable vehicles and a Premium one.

Each vehicle’s case is individual, with different stats that need changing, but the revisions to be made in 1.14.1 are all designed to make playing these Chinese tanks more convenient. Take a look at the widget below—it includes every affected vehicle and shows the stat adjustments that will be applied. Take note that the exact values aren’t final (as is always the case during these tests).

Field Modification Adjustments

The feedback we’ve been receiving indicates that you’re enjoying Field Modification, but there are still some details of this new feature that could be improved. We’ve addressed your concerns with a number of quality-of-life improvements.

  • You will be able to switch off the selection of Alternate Configuration appearing before a battle starts. This can be done directly in the Field Modification screen of a vehicle, separately for the Essentials Loadout (consumables and shells) and the Auxiliary Loadout (equipment and directives). No more battles without ammo! The setting will be separate for each specific vehicle and available when the vehicle is not in battle or a detachment and is fully repaired. Naturally, you will only be able to set it for vehicles that are currently in your Garage.

  • Changing the ammo type on the battle loading screen will become possible, as requested.
  • You will be able to quickly swap between Dual Modifications in the Field Modification screen. Previously, one had to be canceled before the other one could be purchased. Now, the previous Dual Modification will be canceled automatically if you purchase the other one from the pair. (This means less time spent clicking and more time fighting!).
  • Tactical roles of Tier VI–X vehicles specified in Field Modification will now be reflected on the World of Tanks portal, including player profiles, Tankopedia, and Hall of Fame. You will be able to apply vehicle role filters in all three of these places.
  • One last small change worth mentioning is the addition of the Field Modification section to the in-game player’s guide.

Try out these new features, and make sure to let us know what you think!

  1. Type 59 should get the similar pen buff from 185 to 195mm like the T-34-3 (186>196). They both started with the same pen 175mm. Type has to rely a bit too much on the premium shells at this time to be effective. Other buffs are really nice though.

      1. If my memory serves me, Type 59 had 175 pen when it was launched in 2011. I have had it since February 2012, and It was buffed to 181 and then 185. T-34-3 was launched with 175 pen, buffed to 186 and now 196. T-34-3 has also been buffed substantially since its launch and both are still technically pref. MM (though the template system destroyed this aspect for the most part).

  2. Happy for the Chinese buffs, the DPM/accuracy improvement to Type 59 is especially nice.

Also, I suppose we’ll see the Taliban and the Thorwagon in the Christmas loot crates.

    1. It’s entirely possible, and considering the recent introduction of tier 9 vehicles, I won’t be surprised if one of the many tier 9s that are currently sitting around shelved, like the lorr 50t or the wz120-1g ft, get tossed in the lootbox pool as well.

      1. if i recall, the WZ120-1G was a chinese server exclusive or something, but there’s no reason why it can’t come to other servers if it’s in the files

tbh i’m kinda excited to see the Obj 752

        1. 752 seems like a 54e1 but it trades dpm and gun handling for armor, definitely a neat tank thou with some potential for fun weakspot management, I’m mostly excited for the lorr 50t since I love the m4 51 and the m4 54.

  3. They should give the 121 better alpha idk like 480 just to make it unique over the 430 u . 430 u has the same alpha with a ton more armor and about the same speed . Or make it have crazy good pen on its standard ammo do something worth playing it for .
