Hello again! First off, I gotta’ give credit to CK16. Some of the ground work for the placement of tanks is his idea, but tier 5, 6, and 8 are my idea. Plus, all the research is mine. In my opinion, the American Patton tree is one of the most poorly planned trees historicity wise. Along with the American tank destroyer tree, but not as much. Gameplay wise, the American tree was mediocre until they buffed the M48 Patton to be at least a decent to good vehicle in WoT. I’ve tried to keep most of the tanks the same as the unhistorical counterparts while giving them some buffs that are minor or significant to tanks I think deserve it. Obviously, with the changing of tanks there are going to be changes in gameplay such as the M60A1 in tier 10 (well, not so much) and the M26 Pershing in tier 7. CK16 and I probably based off the tree on the adversaries. The M26 Pershing was meant to defeat tanks like the Panther and Tiger (Which I think should drop a tier), the M46 or M47 is supposed to be equal to the T-44, the M48 is equal to the T-54, and the M60 is equal to the T-62. One thing I keep forgetting to mention is that the reasons why I do these reworks is because I care about authenticity. Especially, about a game based on real life. Plus, I think that game balance and historicity aren’t mutually exclusive, but I do think that game balance is a bit more important. Just because I can’t properly balance tanks doesn’t mean that it’s not impossible (even though I think that my tank balancing isn’t that bad :/)
Tier 5: T22/T22E1
To start it off, we have the T22E1. This is not a replacement, just a tank to go with the current tier 5s. The T22 is one of the earliest tanks in the development to create a new tank for the Americans along with the T20 and T23 that would eventually lead to the T25/T26 (M26). What makes this tank special (Even though the T20, T22, and T23 ending with E1 were supposed to have an autoloader only T22 was equipped with it), is that it had a magazine autoloader. With two magazines situated on both sides of the gun. The two magazines had thirty-two rounds each with one being high explosive and the other being armor piercing. The autoloader gave it a good rate of fire. However, the basic T22 was supposed to have the 76mm M1 that you see on the Sherman and a few other tanks. This can cause another T-34 situation. Where you have the 57mm with a better damage per minute and rate of fire while the 76mm has better penetration and damage. Except, that the 76mm on this tank, will actually be worth using. The tank’s engine was a Ford GAN which is just a squished Ford GAA which you can find on the Sherman. So I guess the tank will play similarly to the current T20, not so much the T21 without the 90mm M3 that the T20 has.

Tier 6: T20/T20E3
Again, this is not a replacement. The M4A3E8 and the M4A3E2 are perfectly fine and historical… The regular T20 had the average VVSS suspension that is on the M3 Grant, M4 Sherman, and all the the other tanks based off those two vehicles while the E3 variant had a torsion bar suspension that was similar to the M18 Hellcat’s suspension. This suspension allowed for easier travel and a bigger top speed limit. The tank again, is equipped with the 76mm M1 with better gun stats than the T22. So it will be a better T22. As I said before, it was one of the earlier Pershing prototypes with the T22 and T23 tank. All three of them are pretty similar in terms of mobility, shape, firepower, and armor. Lastly, the armor is nothing special. Just a couple of inches from the front.

Tier 7: M26 Pershing
Born out of a need of tanks that are more powerful than the Sherman, this is the M26 Pershing. The Pershing first saw combat in World War II (many people think it first saw combat in the Korean War). It had lots of predecessors with lots of trial and error (T20, T22, T23, T25, and T26). Eventually, a good prototype finally came and the Pershing was produced. Quite a bit of the tank is unhistorical. For example, the ficticious 90mm “T15E2M2” and the various engines. Its historical engine was the GAF engine which was a slight modification of the GAN engine which was also a modification of the GAA engine. The 90mm T15E2M2 is fake as well. Well, not entirely. The T15E2M2 is a WarGaming fake that is based off the T15E1 that we see on the Super Pershing. Speaking of the 90mm T15E1, if the GAF engine and the 90mm M3 make the Pershing too weak, there is a possibility to introduce the 90mm T15E1. Yes, it will technically become a Super Pershing, but the Super Pershing we have now is a Pershing with Panther armor and boiler plates. In terms of gameplay, it will play much alike the Centurion. Nevertheless, it will drastically play differently from the tier 8 Pershing unless they give it some pretty good terrain resistances.

Tier 8: M46 Patton and/or M47 Patton
The M46 is a modernization of the Pershing, obviously. Equiped with a new 90mm M3A1, new engine, new transmission, redesigned turret, and other minor things. Mostly, fixing flaws and better ergonomics from the M26 Pershing. The M46 we have now is slightly inaccurate. It’s mostly the guns that make it inaccurate. The 105mm T5E1M2 is also ficticious and falsely based off the T5E1 that we see on the T29, M6A2E1, and as a stock gun on the T95. The penetration of the 90mm M3A1 is about 170-180ish. This will be quite a nerf to the penetration, from the 190mm on the 90mm T15E2M2 (It was originally 180mm). To compensate for this nerf, we can give it the T42’s turret. Which is almost the same turret that is present on the M47 Patton. It’s also the same turret that is currently on the tier 9 M46 Patton. Speaking of the M47, the M47 Patton is also a viable option for a tier 8 candidate. It’s also a viable option for tier 9 if you buff it enough, but I feel it fits better in tier 8. The M47 was a replacement for the M46 Patton. It was one of the few tanks or maybe the only one that saw very limited combat by the United States. It did however, see quite a bit of combat by foreign nations. The 90mm M36 was an improvement over the 90mm M3A1. It was a slightly more powerful gun and overall slightly better than the M3A1. It was still not as powerful as the 100mm D-10T or the British 20 pdr. The M47’s 90mm M36 has about 190-200ish penetration. By design it was differentiated quite differently with what came before it and after. With a smooth hull, different turret, and other minor differences. Gameplay wise, it will also play similarly to the current M26 Pershing and the M46 Patton that I’m proposing with the same 100mm of hull armor that we see on the past two tanks. In order to see both tanks, hull variants will eventually be a thing in WoT. After the HD models are done, they’ll focus on hull variants. It’ll probably be able to be unlocked via tracks. Both tanks will play similarly to the Pershing.

Tier 9: M48A1 Patton or M47 Patton
The M48 Patton was designed to be a replacement for the old M47. Introduced in the mid-50’s, it was armed with an upgraded 90mm M41 which again, is an upgrade over the 90mm M36 with about 210-220ish penetration. It was later upgraded to the 105mm M68 (licensed 105mm L7). It was one of the few vehicles in service that featured an egg shaped hull. The armor was greatly improved from the M47 Patton. It was extensively used by the U.S. in Vietnam and a few conflicts. It was heavily upgraded by the Israelis by removing the 90mm M41 and introducing the 105mm L7 and by removing the cupola, which the U.S. took notes about and introduced an urban turret (No large cupola) in their A5 variant. Eventually, the U.S. copied a lot of modifications from the Israelis. With that being said, we can introduce the A5 turret, which will give a significant buff to the M48. Since it is a M48 Patton in tier 9, I’m not sure if it’s necessary. Alternatively, we can introduce the M47 with the 90mm M41 with extra damage. Maybe, about 320 damage or so. This tank will play just like the M46 in tier 9 with similar stats of the T-54’s gun.

Tier 10: M60A1 Patton or M48A1 Patton with A5 turret
Just to clarify, the M60 and the M60A1 are two different tanks. The M60 is a pilot vehicle while the M60A1 is the first production of the vehicle. The M60A1 featured increased armor, 109mm opposed to 93mm and a redesigned turret. The upgraded turret had a better ballistic shape which means that it has better effective armor. It also had 250mm-ish of armor in the front which will give it a Soviet level turret. Plus, a 127mm gun shield which will make it a bit overkill. It did, however, keep the pesky cupola that the M48A5 turret removed. There are also, minor differences between the two vehicles. The closest tank compared to the M60A1 Patton I can think of is the Centurion Action X or the STB-1. It has good speed, mediocre hull armor, “may bounce or not” turret (probably), and the same 105mm gun (STB-1 has a 105mm “Rifled” gun which is obviously the L7). It does have less effective hull armor than the M48 Patton, however. Granted, the hull armor on the M48 wasn’t very useful with the exception for a few lucky bounces. The good thing is that you gain speed. Which is important to a medium. The other thing we can do is to introduce the A5 turret to the M48 Patton. Which will make the M48 Patton go hulldown properly. We could make another Object 140 and T-62A situation with the M60A1 and the M48A1 if the M47 becomes tier 9.
