WoWS: ST, armor-piercing rockets

Please note that the information in the Development Blog is preliminary and subject to change.

Soon there will be a closed test session for attack aircraft carrying armor-piercing rockets. Please note that if the results are positive at the end of the test, detailed information about the future usage of this concept will follow.

The mechanics of these new rockets are similar to that of armor-piercing shells, with the main difference being –just like with armor piercing bombs– that their armor penetration is not dependent on the distance they are fired from, but is instead a constant value.

As per the current concept, these rockets on Tier X aircraft carrier squadrons will be close to 203 mm armor-piercing shells in terms of efficiency against different classes. Upon hitting destroyers there will often be overpenetrations and the total damage will be lower than with standard rockets. The new rockets will be most effective against cruisers due to their ability to hit their citadel and deal significant damage. When attacking battleships, most damage will be dealt when targeting the casemates – the penetration won’t be high enough to pass through the citadel’s armor belt.

5 years of TAP

Today we mark half a decade since TAP first went online. That moment feels like yesterday. This blog was made in order to replace another site, which closed on the day we opened. We (me and Bloodsnow) could not really get over it, so we took matters into our own hands, learning everything from scratch, with no leakers or translators given to us from our predecessor. Needless to say, a tough road was ahead and most TAP members did their best to overcome any obstacles. I taught a few former authors how to post but unfortunately they left and started their own things without giving credit, but such is human nature. I made some mistakes in the past too though, giving those people a reason to leave and I’m deeply sorry for that. Will make sure not to repeat them again. Human interaction is not my forte, sadly.

TAP is here to stay and outlast everything, including the games we post about. I know how it’s like to lose a great site, I don’t want to do that to TAP readers.

I’m really sad about the lack of Q&As and historical articles, but thankfully we can fix the historical part somewhat with some help from Erwin.

I would like to use this post to ask everyone in the comments for feedback on TAP and the new domain/theme. Previous feedback could not be received due to the paid nature of the WPForms plugin we were not aware about.

I try to make TAP load as quick as possible, but there are still 500 internal server errors very rarely. Do not be scared and simply refresh the page. I talk to support whenever this happens to me.

Next year in the summer I’ll finish uni hopefully, and that will mean more time for TAP, at least for a while. Please bear with me until then.

WoWS: PT, IFHE, HE shells penetration, and balance changes

On the second stage of 0.9.2 Public test, we’ve changed the characteristics of several ships, having analyzed their combat performance and taken player feedback into account. Such changes were required in order to carefully adjust the balance of selected warships. We’ll continue to introduce changes in the updates that will follow, if deemed necessary.

American battleship Arkansas Beta, Tier IV:

  • The possibility to mount the “Ship Consumables Modification 1” upgrade is added.

Soviet cruiser Aurora, Tier III:

  • Turret traverse speed increased from 5.0 to 5.1 degrees per second.

Soviet battleship Sinop, Tier VII:

  • Sigma parameter reduced from 1.55 to 1.50.

Soviet battleship Kremlin, Tier X:

  • Sigma parameter reduced from 1.85 to 1.80.

American cruiser Atlanta, Tier VII:

  • Main battery reload time reduced from 5.0 to 4.9 s.
