World of Tanks Update 2.1.1 Overview

World of Tanks Update 2.1.1 went live in mid-January 2026 with a brief server shutdown for each region (EU 1/14/2026 07:30 CET, NA 08:00 ET, ASIA 07:00 UTC+8). In this patch we will be receiving three new Tier XI vehicles and balancing (re-adding in the case of T28 Super Heavy) and adding a full unannounced medium US branch. Ares 75, the Tier 7 US Branch Autocannon, will be available to players, and will allow them to progress to be powerhouses such as Ares 90 C at Tier 10.

The update coincides with the currently live Battle Pass Special: RoboCop and the Onslaught mode’s Season of the Crimson Dragon. For the server downtime, Premium Account users will receive an extension of 24 hours, which will be compensated with the downtime. The new US Tier 11 WoT tanks will Tier 11 tanks, and in addition to the other Tier 11s, will require the implementation of new WoT strategies, including the management of mods heat, and the addition of greater moblility.

New US Autocannon Medium Branch

We will be receiving the Ares line, as it brings forth the Thermal Overheat Control mechanic, which, as the name suggests, controls the heat level of the autocannons. As in many other games, sustained fire will in the case of this particular line of autocannon, affect the accuracy of the cannon provided the heat is allowed to build to a certain level and not allowed to cool. Starting with the Ares 75 (Tier VII), players will research to the Tier X’s Ares 90 C; all of which have the unique mechanic feature of reserve tracks for mid-battle tactical swaps. This mechanic in added to other mechanics provided to other Tier X’s, and will be a depth system in reward for players with the added mechanic for precise burst fire versus spam fire usage.

These mediums excel at flanking because they combine speed and firepower. The branch’s heat system replicates real-life systems and makes players learn when to cool down. Early tests indicate that the Ares 90 performs the best at range while controlling the overheat. While traditonal mediums use sustained alpha damage, they preferred over sustained dps. This makes them ideal for WoT Tier XI tank progression.
