MBT-B [USA, Tier-11, HT, techtree]
In July 1964, General Motors presented a project for a promising main battle tank (MBT). The project incorporated the most promising trends in the development of tank building in the early 1960s: a lowered silhouette, good mobility and a hydropneumatic suspension that ensured a smooth ride. Much attention was paid to reducing the effects of radiation. Work was carried out on combined armor, which was supposed to increase protection against cumulative shells. It was supposed to arm the tank with a 120-mm gun or a 120-mm gun-launcher. Ahead of its time was the decision to install TV cameras on the stern of the turret to view the space behind and drive in reverse. The work was stopped at the stage of working with a full-size model, and all the developments formed the basis of the American project of a promising tank of the 70s – MBT70.
