WoT 1.29 Common Test: Schwertwal In-Game Screenshots & Historical Reference

With the release of Update 1.29, the Schwertwal (🇩🇪Germany, HT-10, promotional, mechanic: rocket boosters) will be played in Random Battles by developers and supertesters.

Historical Reference:

The tank was developed based on the combat experience with the Panzerkampfwagen VI and VI Ausf. B (Tiger II) to address their shortcomings and build on their strengths. The main improvements focused on armor: the use of cast components reduced production complexity.

Additionally, one of the key design decisions was placing the engine and transmission in a single compartment, which improved the internal layout. The suspension retained the interleaved road wheel arrangement, ensuring a smooth ride. For self-recovery and enhanced mobility in emergency situations, solid-fuel rocket engines from the R4M Orkan were mounted on the sides.

Despite its advanced features, the tank had clear drawbacks: a reduced frontal armor slope and a low power-to-weight ratio, which limited its mobility and combat effectiveness.

  1. Is it okay to write random words and call it historical reference? This thing is made up by wg and there are no historical mentions of this thing even in one sentence written by drunk officer. Kinda low.
