WoT RU: Object 261 Version 4 In-Game Screenshots & Historical Reference

Object 261 Version 4 (USSR, Tier-10, Assault SPG, techtree)

Historical Reference:

In 1945, the IS-7 heavy tank project appeared, and promising SPGs began to be developed on its basis. In 1946, the Object 261 project was developed, which had four implementation options. One of the options assumed the maximum use of the finished chassis of the base tank. Instead of a turret, a cabin was mounted, in which either a 152-mm M-31 gun or a 203-mm howitzer was installed. The possibility of using an electromechanical transmission was considered. At the end of 1947, the command put forward new requirements for the SPG, and this project did not receive further development.

  1. I love that they just didn’t want to rename the tier 10 SPG Obj 261 to the correct Obj 261 Version 3. So they ended up incorrectly naming the Obj 261 Version 1 as the Version 4.

WG could honestly do a nice TD line off shoot at tier 7 using this (but name as Obj 261/1, the Obj 262 (which is the Obj 261/2), Obj 263 and the Obj 261/3.

Replace the SPG with something that has identical stats , and add the Obj 268/2 where the 263 currently sits.

  2. This tank should be in the Soviet tech tree as a tier 10 Soviet heavy tank destroyer on the EU server, because it is a Soviet dream come true, the king of tank destroyers!
