WoT Supertest: IMT In-Game Screenshots & Historical Reference

IMT (USA, Tier-8, MT, premium) was released on December 17 for testing on the WoT supertest.

Historical Reference:

After World War II, U.S. Army decision-makers outlined requirements for a new medium tank to replace the Sherman. The Improved Medium Tank (IMT) had fairly thick sloped armor, while its low profile provided additional defense.

The vehicle’s weight was not supposed to exceed 45 tons, and a power-to-weight ratio of 20 h.p./t was planned. A 105 mm gun and six machineguns were considered for the tank’s armament. The gun was supposed to be stabilized in the horizontal and vertical planes. In addition, the tank was to be equipped with an optical rangefinder and radar.
The project was deemed to have no prospects before a prototype was built. However, many of the technical solutions were used in later American tanks.

  1. A curious thing tho: the Americans didnt hyperthonk 100mm’s and quickly went for the 105, which I’m assuming is roughly the same gun the T29 would have packed.

This makes me want to know if they crammed a Pershing or Patton with a 105 and had it go its rounds at Aberdeen

    1. unlikely
the 90mm T15 gun used 2-piece ammunition and barely fit inside a Pershing (T26E4)
if I am not mistaken the 105mm T5E1 used 1-piece ammunition, how would they fit those?
as for the Patton’s those mounted superior 105mm guns, including the T5E1 sucessor (105mm T140) from the T54 tank project
