WoT Supertest: FV230 Canopener

The FV230 Canopener is on top of the new British twin-gun heavy line.

This Tier X tank has good frontal armor on both its turret (260 mm nominal) and hull (200 mm nominal), and its side armor (100 mm on the hull) is strong enough to allow for angling. Despite its thick armor and heavy weight, the Canopener has good mobility and dynamics (the base top speed is 32 km/h).

The Canopener is equipped with twin 120 mm guns offering good accuracy and aiming time in Single Fire mode, or excellent stabilization and an enormous 840 HP of damage per doublet in Salvo Fire mode. Depending on the battle situation, the Brit can play as a sharpshooter or a heavy assault vehicle.

The Selective Fire Modes Mechanic

British twin-barreled heavies have two firing modes: Single Fire and Salvo Fire. You can switch between the modes anytime by pressing X. This neither resets nor pauses gun reloading and can be done on the move.

In Single Fire mode, the guns shoot alternately (starting with the left gun). You can fire one of the guns only after the other has fully reloaded. In this mode, the gameplay is much like that of the British single-barreled heavy line: stabilization, accuracy, and aiming time are all enviable.

In Salvo Fire mode, the tank’s top speed and turret traverse speed are decreased, the guns take longer to fully aim, and accuracy is lower than in Single Fire mode, but the stabilization improves drastically, the one-time damage is doubled, and the DPM stays the same.

The reloading time in Salvo Fire mode is always ×2 of the reloading time in Single Fire mode. If you shoot a salvo, you then need to wait twice as long, as both guns must fully reload before you can fire one of them. At the start of battle and when you change the shell type, you will also need to wait for both barrels to load

  1. That’s one fat boy.

ST-II isn’t toxic and is even unpopular so I doubt the can opener will be troublesome, though I don’t think it’ll replace Super Mongqueror as the top British heavy tank.

    1. can opener ^^
jokes aside didnt expect a double barraled brit. Thought we would get some more anticipated swiss tanks – swedish or japanese lights – or god forbid a new arty line

      And maps?

      1. Maps are super low priority according to WG themselves. 🙁

And I don’t think we’ll ever see any new SPG lines, some in this community already b*tch incredibly hard about the existing ones (to say nothing of the fact Top of the Tree for SPG was removed years ago…).

A Japanese light tank line would be amazing, much more interesting than the Type 71 line we got.

    2. Maybe if you spent more time playing than commenting, on shit you don’t understand you might be a better player!

      1. Please, let’s try to treat each other with respect. We are here for the same reason: We like to play and we like to know the news. But please, above all, a lot of respect. Especially you, you fucking fagg0t piece of sh1t.

  2. Welp…I now have an appropriate tank for Vinnie Jones…lock, stock, and two smoking barrels indeed!

  3. ass.
slow, paper. like the dogshit nergal, its armor will only work against standard ammo and lower tiers, the second people start shooting premium rounds, you cant even run away, and dont have the dpm to defend yourself.
and that random ass 318mm pen on the apcr isnt even enough to reliably pen an e100 turret.

  4. Looks very interesting to say the least. The gun doesnt seem very reliable though, but ill wait to say that with confidence, its like the 703 ii except it has even better movment dispersion, but somehow probably hits the mark less due to worse base dispersion, or more if there is basically zero bloom from movment dispersions

    1. If it has zero movment dispersion build up after entering salvo mode, the aim time would probably never be seen in salvo mode if the switch is done while stationary and fully aimed.

My guess (in salvo mode) is that this thing will play like a 703 ii except it is a parabola where you are better landing hits in close range but worse landing hits in far range. The question is, where is the point where the gun behaves the same? 200m? 300m?

      1. Do you actually bother to read anything about the tank before you start commenting then correcting yourself?
Or is that your aspergers again ?

              1. WG would close as a company if they addressed the toxicity and frustration tied to their products. They answer to reports but they only ban people when they have no choice – illegal cheats, extreme racism or other hate speech, stuff like that.

  5. I mean… Brits are known for a peculiar sense of humor, but this is a bit too much imo 😄 About the tank itself… Seems funky with this new mechanic. We’ll see how it will perform on the common test (since WG most likely won’t touch it before entering CT)

          1. it really isnt. just check 5 dudes randomly after every battle. its about 47-48%. the majority of the playerbase is fucking retarded.
