There were many scrapped maps in WoT’s history – lots of them were covered by Wotexpress or other news/leaks sharing websites at a time. However, this time I have a map I’m sure you’ve never heard about – Boundless/Land of Mayhem.
Full file of this map was found in versions 0.6.4-0.6.5 (technical name: 40_boundless). From technical standpoint, it should be noted that this map had 1024 chunk files, compared to usual 484, which almost certainly means this map was 1,5×1,5 km in size, as:
amount of chunks for normal maps (1×1 km) is √484 = 22, so the map is 22×22 chunks in size As two chunks belong behind map borders (one on each end), 1000 m ÷ 20 = 50m, so a chunk is 50m.
Now for 40_boundless: √1024 = 32; 30×50m = 1500m
As for the map file itself, it unfortunately lacked a minimap (and instead defaulted to placeholder Malinovka mmap), but all “important” files were here, so I was able to open it in BigWorld world editor.
I attached an image of world overview (effectively minimap) generated by world editor, and in a comment there’s a video of flying around the map (starting from bottom-center area in relation to attached “minimap” and going left)
As for the map itself, it’s probably the worst one I’ve ever seen – absolute most of it is just a completely flat, empty and cover-less field. It almost gives a dev test map vibes with how basic the terrain and everything is. The only kinda cool feature is top right corner, where a massive hill overlooking the bottom field is located, which had another smaller and climbable hill on top of it
sorry for the FPS, world editor is from like 2007 lol
