WoT Update 1.25.1 Common Test 1: Familiar Modes and Overwhelming Fire

The first Common Test of Update 1.25.1 is here, Commanders!

It brings the updated Overwhelming Fire event, featuring unusual vehicles with automatic cannons. You can also try out a standalone launch of Onslaught with simplified rules—Onslaught Light—and experience two other modes, Steel Hunter and Frontline. Enjoy!

All features on the Common Test are currently in active development. Any values, rewards, technical characteristics, and other feature settings that are relevant for the Common Test are not final and may not correspond to those in the release version.

Onslaught Light: Less Challenging, More Relaxed Battles

With the release of Update 1.25.1, you can experience Onslaught Light, a special variation of our competitive mode with less challenging rules. This standalone launch is designed for fun and relaxed gameplay and is not connected to coming Onslaught Seasons.

Key features:

  • Tier VIII Battles: All battles will feature Tier VIII vehicles, with no restrictions on vehicle choice—all researchable and Premium vehicles are allowed, apart from a few exceptions.

Since Onslaught Light is an experimental mode, some vehicles are unsuitable for this new format due to their combat roles. Plus, some tanks overperform under these special battle conditions at Tier VIII in the Onslaught format and can decide the outcome of battles. Considering this, we’ve decided to ban them. Check the list of these tanks under the spoiler below.

  • No Ranked System: You neither gain nor lose Rating Points in battles—play for fun without worrying about your rank! The mode will use a random matchmaker according to Onslaught rules.
  • Special Progression System: Earn points and get rewards for your progress, such as unique 2D customizations, bonds, Personal Reserves, and other useful goodies.
  • Availability: Onslaught Light will be available from the update’s release.

All other combat rules for Onslaught Light battles remain the same as in regular launches, but have been reconfigured specifically for Tier VIII vehicles.

Join the Common Test to enjoy this easy and enjoyable variation of Onslaught!

Steel Hunter: Test the New Tournament Qualifying System!

The upcoming launch of Steel Hunter will include several quality-of-life improvements. But the major new feature is a qualifying system for players to participate in a planned future tournament. Here’s how this feature works:

  • Join the Common Test: To register for qualifying, click on the special widget in the Steel Hunter Garage.
  • Battle: After your first Steel Hunter battle, all subsequent battles will count toward your qualification.
  • Scoring: The system will evaluate your performance over each set of 10 battles. Improved results will boost your score.
  • Rewards: The top 20 players in the qualification will receive up to 1,000 , up to  three days of WoT Premium Account, and 2,000 Steel Seals each, which can be used during the upcoming event launch. These rewards will be credited to your main account within two weeks after the Common Test completion.

Additional improvements coming to Steel Hunter:

  • Marauder loot grants more abilities toward the end of the battle.
  • Loot within your vision cone is displayed on the minimap.
  • Updated ability tooltips with more detailed and useful information.
  • Visual indicators of vehicle strengths and weaknesses in the Steel Hunter Garage.
  • Transparent loot when viewed through the sniper scope, ensuring a clear view of enemies and objects behind it for easier targeting.

Finally, we’re introducing a new Progression reward: a 2D progressive style with five stages! Improve this style by completing dedicated battle missions in Steel Hunter.

Experience the new qualifying system and see who comes out on top!

Overwhelming Fire: The Fun Mode Returns with New Features!

Overwhelming Fire will be available only during Common Test 1.

The Overwhelming Fire event returns with balance tweaks, new visual effects, and eight familiar vehicles with fast-firing guns. During Common Test 1, you can try out three of these unusual tanks, each with unique automatic cannon sub-mechanics:

XM551E4 Hailstorm
(XM551 Sheridan)

Flakpanzer VIII Flakmaus
(Maus)

M5YE2 Thunderclap
(M-V-Y)

The remaining five vehicles with automatic cannons will be available when the event goes live.

Additionally, the updated Overwhelming Fire event features:

  • A new Progression system with new missions and stage rewards (remember that all rewards are for testing purposes and are subject to change when the event goes live).
  • A new post-battle screen with your combat statistics and all in-game resources earned.

  1. I am wondering what WeeGee sees as problematic in the following tanks to ban them from onslaught:
    Löwe, T34, T34 B, FCM 50 t, Gonsalo, AAT60

    1. because except from bz176 and artys, all the other tanks are SUPPORT heavy/medium tanks, wg is too lazy to create new skills for them

      1. You are right, there are none tier X non autoloader/reloader support heavies or mediums and all of the ones listed above are exactly that. Singleshoot supportvehicles which would need a new skill.

    1. Better than not playing it but comming to news web to talk about a game you (say) you dont play
