The 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment was created in 1921 based on the Army of Wrangel. It is one of two cavalry regiments of the 6th Light Armored Brigade in France, and it was never dissolved or renamed. After World War II, it turned into an armored cavalry regiment and is currently divided into seven squadrons. The name remained the same in honor of horseback divisions. The regiment’s tasks include reconnaissance and anti-tank operations.
