I don’t think it’s optional, the normal tank is the M47 improved. It’s the same story with Peregrine and Defender.
Renegade has a huge tumor and it did not stop the tank from being one of the best tier 8 premium heavies in the game. M47 Patton has an overall good turret other than the tumor part. Just wiggle the turret.
This tank’s main issue really is the gun. DPM too low, aiming time too long and dispersion is bad. At least its on the move / turret dispersion values are great that you do not need VS for it. WG tweaked the gun stats to be inline with double penetrators.
Judging from stats, this tank is really a support heavy with some ability to play hulldown and sidescrape. It is difficult to know how good / bad this tank is without really playing it. From the stats, it looks to be average.
At least WG is not releasing another brokenly OP tank.

Renegade’s huge cupola cannot be hidden by using gun depression. This is NOT the case with this M47, it has MUCH SMALLER cupola. It’s turret has only 1 weakspot, the cupola. If you play enough of Renegade, you will know you can get pen straight in the face especially when when you’re hulldown. They can simply pen you right below your gun.
1.7k base DPM is low nowaday, but when you have that kind of armor, you simply don’t care. Nobody will pen you anyway if you do use a bit of your brain. What kind of armor I’m talking about? Just wait for few days then you’re gonna see what kind of armor they give this thing.
If that’s not enough then how about 300 HEAT and -10 gun depression?

It’s nice they have it painted in Austria colors. But this tank should be a tier 9 tank and the historical version should be tier 8

Lmao why wg has the stupidest player base, if wg release a broken tank like chieftain they pretent to say tank broken but they play it anyway and if wg release more balance tank they get angry.
But remember the average win rate is 47% so most players need op tanks to “help”
