World of Tanks – Patch 1.6 Public Test

This week July 11th the Common Test server will receive patch 1.6 for players to try out. CT might be delayed till the 12th. Release of the patch itself will be in August.

Everything that was in the supertest 1-1.5 months ago will be added to this version and also everything that was promised and planned for the second half of summer. It is highly likely we will see very important and big additions with this patch

        Tajj made a “Promise-O-Meter” for 2019 but that thread, like many, has already been buried in the sand, but here’s the gist;

        >Leo 1 buffs = Completed
        >STB 1 buffs = Completed
        >SWE HT rework = Completed
        >SWE MT introduction = completed
        >Clicker rework = Stage I completed; Stage II no news yet
        >Ammo rebalance = underway but people don’t like it.

        No news about map design, armour etc.

        1. Hi ๐Ÿ˜‰ All well with me, but quite frustrated about WGs stubbornness to keep premium ammo rather than removing it. Well, I should not be surprised, it was exactly the same with the artillery rework and the clown cars. WGs stubbornness will be their downfall ๐Ÿ˜› How are you? ๐Ÿ™‚
          Thank you for the list, but most of that has already been done ๐Ÿ˜› And I assume artillery + ammo rework is too far away to get into 1.6, so what will they give us now? ๐Ÿ™‚ I think we can atleast expect the bonds shop, but did they promise free 6th sense aswell or did they only mention it during the christmas teaser video? ๐Ÿ™‚

As much as people want the “prem ammo” (which you can actually just buy it for credits for a long time now), they can’t “just remove it” since there are so many tanks in the game with to much armor and then there is +2 mm, and even in +1 or same tier games there are so many tanks you simply can’t pen many tanks atall, not even in the side with standard ammo, it’s not as easy as people might think “yeah just remove prem ammo, haha, problem solved”…

            1. Why do you think that high penetration ammo needs to be a premium item? You’re basically doing the same mistake as WG. If high penetration ammo is required to play the game, then it should not be a premium item. So yes, it’s really as simple as just removing premium ammo. But it’s important to understand that removing premium ammo does NOT equal to removing high penetration rounds.
              And the excuse that premium ammo can be bought for credits makes no sense since it doesn’t change that fact that it’s still a premium item. It’s the cost that makes it a premium item, not only the type of currency. The only thing you’re acheiving by putting a high cost on these rounds, is that you make it unaffordable for some players. It’s really bad design, and the main reason why players perceive it as P2W.

              Regarding your point, you’re completely wrong. Why do you think that high penetration rounds needs to be a premium item? They can simply make all shells cost the same, and then we have high penetration rounds that everyone can afford to use. Then they just need to give the high penetration rounds some downsides, overpenetration for example, to prevent people from shooting it all the time.
              Seriusly, next time you want to reply to someone with such a bad attitude as you did, atleast make sure you put forward a valid argument with some weight.

And yeah, what you’re saying does make sense, but the main issue with that would be that a lot of players currently RELYING on “special” ammo to play well would see their stats plummet when everyone else is given access to the same benefits. As those fellas are probably bringing in the most significant part of monetary contribution to WG (coming from the players, as surely they also get a lot from ads and such), WG would either lose their support or downright get flamed for it. So that’s basically why Premium ammo stays the way it is

                    1. Yeah, I agree with you that some players that rely on premium ammo to get an advantage over other players that don’t use it might get upset. But I think that WG needs to take that punch in order to proceed. To be fair, they’ve put themselves in a position that no matter how they proceed, some group of players will get upset. In that situation, they need to take the decision that is the most healthy for the game itself. And to be honest, I don’t think that these players are the ones bringing in the most money for WG. I think the players that yeild the most money are the regular premium account and premium tank buyers, and these players will propably just be happy with a lower ammo cost ๐Ÿ™‚

                      It is possible, very possible, to have the concept of premium ammo thrown out the window and, at the same time, keep things as they are while giving maybe a symbolic different cost for them.

                      You can use AP as the “baseline” shell which would remain as it is now. Then:

                      APCR = More flight speed, more pen but less dmg (subcaliber.

                      APHE = Same as WoWs: thin armour: overpen; pens the engine compartment; more dmg than AP + No RNG rules

                      HESH = Needs to pen an armour range, too little: overpen; too much; behaves like normal HE

                      HEAT = Same as it is now but with overpen

                      HE = same as it is now for DLOS tanks.

                      For Clickers:

                      HE Frag = high splash/no stun

                      HE General Purpose = low splash/with stun

                      Adjust credit earning accordingly, adjust shell economy so they are not premium assets (should’ve never been in the first place)

                      And there you go. You just rebalanced the shells. At least buys you some time until you rebalance the armour.

      1. And your point is? Players should not need to pay 2 million credits in order to get a crew skill that is so vital for playing that almost every single player uses it. For you, 2 million credits is nothing, for a new player, 2 million credits is rediculous. Sixth sense is too important to be a crew skill, it should be aviable for all players from the start.

          1. That’s not a legal issue at all. WG sold free xp to players, and allowed players to use this free xp on training their crew members. They never sold you 6th sense, it was you who decided to start with that crew skill. If they make 6th sense free, you will still have what you payed for, i.e. enough crew xp for another crew skill.
            And before saying that it’s not going to happen, you do realise that WG hinted about making 6th sense free during the christmas teaser video?

        3. I agree with that, but 2M credits is not that much once you have one or two premium tanks and it can be earned even by playing OP tier 5s or 6s. For me it’s way better to invest 2M credits into crew that into some regular tier 8 tank which is no way profitable without premium account, it’s worse that most of premium tanks and I remember that when I was a new player, tier 8 was extremely frustrating (and that was in 2013, when amx50100 or t32 were considered awesome and perfectly viable for team battles). Now it has better MM at least. 2M credits is not much more than buying equipment without discount (optics, rammer, vstab)
          WG has to make money somehow and this time I’m happy that starting new lines is not frustrating and painful experience. I’d rather spend money/credits on that than on firing exclusively premium ammo into weakspots of superheavies/TDs to feel somehow useful in tier 10 games. Free sixth sense would be even better.

            1. I agree. For 6th sense, I would do, if I was Wargaming, one of those ideas :
              Idea #1 :
              Everybody has 6th sense at 5 seconds.
              As soon as the tank commander selects the skill, it drops to 4 seconds.
              When it reaches 100% it drops at 3 sec.

              Idea #2 :
              Everybody has 6th sense at 6 seconds.
              As soon as the tank commander selects the skill, it drops to 5 seconds.
              When it reaches 50%, it drops at 4 sec.
              When it reaches 100% it drops at 3 sec.

              I prefer the first one for this skill. But overall, I would change all perks to a gradual change, like this.

    It’s a shame because it’s really easy to fix:

    -rebalance Premium Ammo
    -rebalance OP reward tanks
    -limit arty to 1 per side
    -remove 0 dmg hits on wheeled vehicles

    -> Win

    1. The second somebody says “limit arty to 1 or 2 per side” they lose any right to an opinion. WG already denied the possibility, literally 100% of games would have at least 1 arty if this were to happen, AND arty would take 2x+ longer to get into a match. this is a lazy way to do things. They are going about artillery in the right way, by trying to make the class not to toxic for all sides. They arent finished doing this obviously. they have 2 more huge tests to go through. i forgot what the second one is going to be, but the third one is going to bring back AP shells in one form or another.

        In my opinion, I would much rather have 1 artillery every single game, than having 2 or 3 artillery in some games. The reason WG denied it is because they’re stubborn as usual, and they also misunderstood it. People didn’t ask for artillery to be limited to 2 per battle, that would indeed make it worse. However, limiting it to 1 per battle would make it better.
        And what’s the problem with a having a x2 longer queue time for artillery? Queue times are already really short, what’s the problem in waiting 20 seconds rather than 10 if you want to play artillery?
        Also, they can’t make artillery less toxic. You’ve got the terms “effectivness” and “toxicity” mixed up. The toxic part comes from the fact that artillery punishes active gameplay, and that artillery can sit completely safe on the other side of the map in their own base and still outplay players that are much better than themselves. That’s where the toxicity stems from. The only real solution is to remove artillery completely from the game, or atleast limit it to 1 per battle. You don’t need to agree with me, but that’s my opinion.

          I dont think arty is so HUGE issue in WOT anymore… First of all they are not fun to play. Because all whining they are class this has changed the most from its introduction in early stages of game development so you constantly need to adjust your gameplay with this class of vehicles.
          Now-day’s 80% of all maps have large / solid “arty free” zones where arties cant even hit you, or can hit you with only pure luck…
          Now-day’s arties CAN’T penetrate / one-shoot you or take 80+% of HP as they used to…
          If player has issue with this class it is not problem with a whole class but with that player – LEARN how to avoid being hit by arty!!! It is not so complicated at all – just learn where are arty “blind spots”, use cover and JUST DONT STAY AT SAME F***ING PLACE whole game (!).
          If in some rare circumstances, even if you follow all the “arty evasion rules” , you get hit/killed by arty GET OVER IT (FFS !!!)

          1. So in other words, you’re saying that people who want to avoid artillery should either stay in the back so they don’t get spotted, or, they should camp behind cover? Because last lime I played, the cover did not follow me when I moved. And then you also need to consider that getting clicked by 1 artillery is atleast manageble even if it’s still annoying, but getting focused by 2 or 3 artilleries at the same time, makes the game completely unplayable. When that happens you might aswell leave the battle early because nothing good with come out of that anyway.

              If you get focused in one game other 12(13) players (3 or 2 friendly arties not included ๐Ÿ™‚ ) will be “artie free” , and everyone on you team will pity you, as you take sacrifice, so they can play without bothering ๐Ÿ™‚ In next game someone else will be focused and so on… In my experience I get “focused” by arty in every 20th game (and even fewer focused by 2+ arties) and really have no problem with that… I take it as a fact of a life, and in a moment I get back to garage I press battle and forget “ugly” experience I just had…

              1. I understand what you’re saying, but you’re missing one important detail ๐Ÿ™‚ Some players get focused a lot more often than others. Things like XVM and clan tags, but also things like specific tanks and specific positions, tend to get focused much more frequently than others. This creates a situation where some players get focused almost never by artillery, while other players get focused almost every game when there’s artillery. I’m not a unicum, so usually I don’t get XVM focused apart from when there’re no unicums on my team (or when they’re already taken out). However, I very often get focused by artillery when I occupy a strong position or even when I’m top tier ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
                Personally I’d even prefer to have the old artillery (before the stun rework) if there was only 1 artillery on each team ๐Ÿ™‚

        It’s better to get 1 arty every game than 3 arty 9/10 games then 0 arty one game. And that’s only if they keep their retarded choice of keeping it in the game in the first place.

        The game does not need arty. They only keep it so they don’t have to refund players hundreds of thousands of xp that would allow them to skip entire lines. If they could just remove it without any further compensation for arty owners, and without care for the retards who can’t play any other class, they’d probably do it. But they can’t because with their missions they forced people to play that class, and some players are too stupid to play anything else, so removing it would be a huge issue, not because of gameplay, but because of the community wanting their xp/credits back.

        1. The game needs some form of indirect fire. SPGs, as they are, do not bother me at all but I can still have an unbiased opinion about the subject and understand why some players do not like them.

          Still… With these maps, SPGs as a Class are elephants in a shot glass. Same as HTs.

          The biggest issue here is maps. WG likes creating maps with predefined areas where each class goes to. Combined with the clicker’s gun range and you have that.

          If the maps were larger (doesn’t necessarily mean bigger, FL-ish, just have the space better formatted) and the gun range decreased, they wouldn’t be as annoying because you could deal with them yourself.
