WoT EU Premium Shop: Swedish Siege – The Strv S1 Hydraulic Tank Destroyer

The Strv S1 was the first Premium tank destroyer with hydraulics and it’s is highly mobile when in “Travel” mode, plus it has a high reverse speed. Find a decent spot to await your unfortunate prey, unleash rounds with 288mm penetration, and quickly sneak away. Master Siege mode: it’s the only way your cannon will be efficient, as any shots fired in Travel mode rarely ever hit their target. Available in four bundles on sale in the Premium Shop.

  1. Why would anyone buy this with cash instead of gold in the tech tree? Buy gold when it is 15% off, then buy with that gold the STRV S1 when tier 8 premiums are on sale (another 15% off), for a total of 30% off. It means waiting some time, but still, 44€ is a lot for this tank. Translated, it would cost you around 30€ instead of 44€.

    1. It’s good for making money. Facing tier 10 is fine with this tank because it has great non premium pen, great accuracy. Facing higher tiers makes more exp and money.

  2. Well actually, you wouldn’t buy it for 30% less, but rather (1-0,85*0,85)=0,7225, so it’s 27,75% off… yeah, I’m fun at parties

    1. yeah, you’re right, thanks for correcting, i don’t want other people to make the wrong calculations because of me. it’s 15% off of the 15% off. But my idea still stands that it’s not worth the full price, even though it is a great tank!

    1. Who the fuck cares about global WR? Global WR is affected a lot by tomatoes… This tank is great for making money, great non premium pen and decent alpha. That’s good for making money if you’re good.

  3. It’s a good sniper tank destroyer, but not at that price. You can’t really carry with it because once the team has collapsed you can’t handle enemies at close range. It’s like arty in that respect.
Well at least the pubs will be full of poorly handled cheese wedges for a couple of weeks.

  5. It’s tied with the Lowe at moneymaking (288 pen means almost no gold needed), and it, the Lowe, and the Lorr. 40t are the only T8 premiums that stand a chance against tier 10s.

As a tank, it bounces some, the camo is sick as hell fully kitted out, and the gun is pretty accurate. Siege mode kills any CQC, which means this tank is tied down as an annoying piece of shit you can’t see until the end of the game. Great tank, but not good for influencing games.

I’ve played ~180 games with it at 57%, so I like to think I know what I’m doing

    1. You can sort of brawl with enemy tanks with guns 90mm or smaller. You basically have to push into their hulls IN TRAVEL MODE, preferably when they’re sideways (and they often do, when trying to circle you) and facehug them this way, and keep pushing forward and adjust the direction to show only your front to the enemy. This way the enemy can’t disengage to get a better angle of attack on you and you are so close to the enemy that you don’t need to adjust the elevation to still be able to hit your shots. Also, due to the fact you never went to the siege mode you are free to disengage, should you need to, due to superior reverse speed.

1 vs 1 against enemy with gun small enough to auto bounce off your sloped armour it’s pretty decent tactic.

Now, there are many enemies with guns overmatching the armour, but there’s a good number of enemies that you actually can brawl with, if you know the tanks in game well enough to be able to tell what guns they are equipped with.

      1. Gotta watch out for 90mm guns that have HEAT ammo though, since those won’t autobounce. Which is STA-1, STA-2, 59-Patton, T49, M41 90 – off the top of my head.
