ST, Pan-Asian destroyers

Changes to consumables for destroyers:

HsienYang Tier VIII – Surveillance Radar: active time increased to 15 seconds (from 10). Consumable is installed in the smokes slot (2nd slot);…
Chung Mu Tier IX – Surveillance Radar: active time increased to 17 seconds (from 12). Consumable is installed in the smokes slot (2nd slot);
Yueyang Tier X – Surveillance Radar: active time increased to 20 seconds (from 15). Consumable is installed in the smokes slot (2nd slot).

This change is designed to decrease the excessive efficiency of these ships by removing the smoke screen/radar combo. At the same time the radar active time is increased so the choice for the slot is more varied.

ST, Conqueror and Lion balancing

As the British battleships were introduced quite recently, a simple comparison to older branches doesn’t make too much sense. Current Conqueror and Lion population hasn’t quite stabilized yet. Therefore we analyzed the statistics of Conqueror owners compared to their appropriate numbers with Yamato, Montana and Grosser Kurfürst.

Average damage (in hit points):
Conqueror: 108 254
Montana: 97 142
Yamato: 95 917
G.K.: 91 981

Average damage (in HP %):
Conqueror: 161,49 (47,3 against cruisers, 96,2 against battleships, 15,8 against destroyers)
Montana: 162,25 (70,8 against cruisers, 71,7 against battleships, 16,9 against destroyers)
Yamato: 153,07 (60,9 against cruisers, 76,6 against battleships, 13,6 against destroyers)
G.K.: 155,45 (66,2 against cruisers, 71,7 against battleships, 16,9 against destroyers)

Average number of ships destroyed:
Conqueror: 0,93
Montana: 1,09
Yamato: 0,95
G.K.: 1,00

Average survival rate:
Conqueror: 52%
Montana: 45%
Yamato: 40%
G.K.: 40%

Average win rate:
Conqueror: 52%
Montana: 54%
Yamato: 52%
G.K.: 53%

Average lifetime (in minutes):
Conqueror: 12,46
Montana: 11,84
Yamato: 11,51
G.K.: 11,35

The story so far:
Conqueror does in fact have high average damage, but that is mostly due to his priority target – other battleships. However, as it is mostly damage by HE shells and fire, Repair Party is quite effective for mitigating that.
As of right now Conqueror’s win rate is far from anomalous.
The only tangible thing at the moment is her average lifetime, but decreasing that might heavily impact her efficiency in other departments.
Comparing Lion to her closest adversaries bore similar results.

Using this data we will test the tweaks to performance stats:

Conqueror
– Repair party I consumable recharge time is increased from 120 to 180 seconds;
– Repair party II consumable recharge time is increased from 80 to 120 seconds;
– Detectability range is increased from 14,76 km to 15,66 km;
– Detectability range while firing from smoke screen is increased from 15,85 km to 16,69 km.

Lion
– Repair party I consumable recharge time is increased from 120 to 180 seconds;
– Repair party II consumable recharge time is increased from 80 to 120 seconds.

These changes should balance Conqueror’s performance against the other ships of this tier. She will, however, still have the best concealment among the group and the ability to take the most momentary damage thanks to Repair Party.

  1. Great instead of addresses the actual issue with the British BBs (the cancer HE) they just make them slightly less tanky in the short term. Big deal, it changes nothing!!

    No shit, as if the Belfast didnt teach us that already. As if they were set on releasing a techtree of USS Black gimmicks.

    Read: GK, despite having 20% HP more, averages 20% less damage than Conq
    WG: Nothing anomalous.

    Poor retards …

  4. The conqueror Lion changes are of no use at all her HE is still way to powerfull. The fact that there is no way to angle against HE shells makes her to powerfull in a one on one fight against any other tier 10 BB. The HE alpha damage and fire chance should be lowered to make her more balanced.

    1. I think you just illustrated why wg feels the ship is unique. You can’t angle against it’s HE ammo, and that you will lose in a 1vs 1. The trade off is that it takes alot of dmg quickly so 1vs 2 it loses nearly every time. Well thought out or not, WG wanted to make a ship that was the winner 1v1, but loser any other fight type.

      1. Maybe the solution to the Conq and the Lion is to focus on them more often. Maybe people need to start working together more, instead of complaining when they can’t 1v1 another ship of the same class.

        Should we all start insisting that the Yamato is broken because you can’t bow tank it with another tier 10 BB? People have figured out that you just don’t expect to win bow tanking a Yamato, so good players don’t, they find other ways to kill one. If we start complaining about the strengths of top tier ships and about particular attributes that make them strong, we’re going to find 5-6 Montanas with different country flags on them at tier 10 instead of having 5-6 tier 10 BBs that behave differently.

        I suppose this is a point I can make for any new ship line. The desire to make a ship line have a “flavor” boils down to giving that line in particular the top tier a given strong asset the others don’t have. Do they always hit the mark, no, but I for one appreciate the attempt at variety WG tries to have.
